Long Covid Treatment in Auckland

You had Covid a while ago. On paper you've recovered. But the fatigue never fully lifted, focus is harder than it used to be, and a full night's sleep leaves you no fresher. That stuck-in-second-gear feeling is what hyperbaric oxygen therapy is aimed at.

Why Us

Why Choose Us For Long Covid

Works Below The Surface

Pressurised oxygen dissolves into your plasma and reaches tissue that ordinary circulation leaves short. That mechanism is what the therapy is built around.

Where 'Everything Came Back Clear' Fits

The space between normal test results and still feeling wrong is exactly where we work. It's the point most Long Covid patients tell us they got stuck.

A Course Built Around Your Week

We set your session count at the first consult, then slot appointments around work and family so recovery doesn't swallow your whole schedule.

New Zealand's Largest Chamber, No Referral

A certified 5-person chamber running at 2.0 ATA, the biggest in the country, in Epsom. You can refer yourself, and no GP referral is required.

Long Covid rarely shows on a scan or a blood panel. It shows in your day. The afternoon wall you hit at two o’clock. The word that won’t come. The sense that the sharp version of you is somewhere just out of reach. If that has been the shape of the last few months, HBOT is worth understanding.

The Part Of Long Covid That Standard Care Struggles With

By the time people reach us, most have already done the rounds. GP visits, blood tests, maybe a specialist. The results come back unremarkable, the advice is to rest and give it time, and nothing really moves.

The problem is that a lot of Long Covid lives in tissue that ordinary care can’t easily see or reach. Low-level inflammation lingers. Cell function stays depressed. Resting helps a healthy body recover, but it doesn’t restore tissue that isn’t getting what it needs in the first place. That mismatch is why “wait it out” so often leads nowhere.

Getting Oxygen To Where It Stalled

Under normal breathing, oxygen rides through your body on red blood cells, and that works fine for well-supplied tissue. Where circulation is compromised, though, delivery drops off.

Inside the chamber the pressure roughly doubles, and at that point oxygen dissolves straight into your blood plasma. Plasma flows into areas red blood cells struggle to service, carrying oxygen with it. For Long Covid, that means oxygen reaching under-supplied tissue that ordinary breathing leaves short. Whether that changes your symptoms is not something we can promise, and it is worth discussing with your GP alongside us.

Why Oxygen Delivery Is The Focus

Mitochondria are what turn oxygen into usable energy. When Covid knocks them back, everything costs more than it should, which is why holding concentration or making it through a normal day feels like wading through mud.

HBOT works on the supply side of that: getting more oxygen into tissue that circulation is not servicing well. We are describing a mechanism here, not an outcome. Research into HBOT and Long Covid is still developing, responses differ from person to person, and we won’t tell you what yours will be.

Your First Consultation

Nothing happens on day one except a proper conversation. You sit down with one of our technicians and we go through where you’re at:

  • How long the symptoms have been running and how they show up for you
  • What you’ve already tried and what did or didn’t help
  • What a good outcome actually looks like in your life, not in the abstract

From there we shape a plan around your situation. No referral, no sedation, and you drive yourself home.

How Long A Course Runs

Most Long Covid patients complete somewhere between 20 and 40 sessions. That’s a wide band on purpose, because it hinges on your symptoms, how long you’ve carried them, and how your body answers the treatment.

We commit to a number at your consult so you’re not signing up to an open-ended thing, and we book around real life: early slots before the day starts, times that fit shift work and school pickups. Tell us what your week looks like and we’ll work into the gaps.

  • Dissolves oxygen into your plasma under pressure
  • Reaches tissue that ordinary breathing leaves short
  • Run as a course of sessions alongside your existing care
  • No sedation and no downtime, drive yourself home each time
  • Self-referrals welcome, no GP referral needed

Long Covid FAQ

Questions, Answered

Will ACC cover Long Covid treatment?

Almost never. ACC treats Long Covid as an illness rather than an injury, so cover is very limited. We can talk you through session costs directly when you call.

How soon could I get started?

Reach out by phone or online and most new patients are in for their first consult within one to two weeks.

Is a GP referral needed?

No, we take self-referrals. Bring any GP notes if you have them, they help us build the picture, but they aren't required.

Is there anything I should prepare beforehand?

If you've kept a symptom diary, bring it, along with a list of the medications you're on. That's plenty for a first visit.

Am I okay to drive afterwards?

Yes. There's no sedation involved, so you can drive yourself to and from every session.
